Gjikondi’s beginnings
Gjikondi’s story begins as early as 1984. Agron Gjikondi once a goldsmith working in a state-owned company during the communist 80s had a dream, and one dream only. He wanted to set up his own store which seemed remotely wild in those times. However, with the beginning of the 90s he began his journey to immigration in Athens, Greece where he started working for a famous Greek goldsmith. Having learned the trade, and being an able craftsman upon the incitement of the Greek goldsmith he went back to Tirana, Albania where he wanted to pursue his dream.
The 90s were turbulent times for the Albanians. However, that did not discourage Agron and he kept building his business as goldsmith, engaging in repair and selling jewelry mainly from Greek companies.
Its was by the beginning of 2000 when Agron Gjikondi really engaged with the jewelry and watches world.
The first cooperation in the watches world was with Raymond Weil, a swiss watches company which was the first green light for the watches world. As a result of this cooperation in 2008 the company hosted Tedi Papavrami, a Raymond Weil ambassador at the time for a concert in Albania’s most famous amphitheater in Durres, a UNESCO site.
